OMODA and JAECOO make their bow
The Chery Group stunned crowds at the 20th Shanghai Auto Show yesterday when it officially revealed OMODA and JAECOO as independent brands.
Each brand, which will have their own identity, models and target markets, was revealed together with unique, new models.
In the case of OMODA, the brand showed its pure electric OMODA 5 e-QUA model. Far from being just a concept vehicle, the OMODA 5 e-QUA is a production-ready model and aside from the brand launch, this also acted as its world debut.
JAECOO is a completely new brand and it showcased its first two models, the JAECOO 7 and the JAECOO 9. These two models will start the global brand journey for JAECOO, just like the OMODA C5 did for OMODA.
The Auto Shanghai 2023 auto salon is one of the most revered global showcases for new vehicles and new technology. It returns this year after a disruption in 2022 with the active participation of over 1 000 companies from across the world.
For JAECOO and OMODA, the Shanghai Show was a perfect opportunity to reveal their global intent. As two modern and technologically advanced vehicle brands, these products are focused on young-minded users across the world.
OMODA has a jump start on its sibling, JAECOO. It has already launched the OMODA C5 in many markets across the world, including South Africa.
As a young and future-forward brand, OMODA has attracted over 3 million online interactions and over 3 billion hits on its various platforms and interactions. OMODA itself fielded more than 10 000 user enquiries and exchanged over 1 200 OMODA pictures, not to mention the various live-streaming opportunities that featured the brand.
JAECOO will make its mark in the same young-minded and future-focused target market, but with an urban off-road flavour.
With its focus on the outdoor lifestyle, its models have been designed to offer a sophisticated driving experience, despite being at home on rough terrain. For the design of JAECOO’s first models, its designers drew inspiration from nature with smooth and simple lines that are organic in nature and pleasing to the eye. It features a waterfall-like front grille, matrix LED daytime running lights and an imposing stance.
Inside the JAECOO models, the designers again used simple and elegant lines. The imposing centre console has simple straight lines, trimmed with metal that feature ingrained polygonal patterns.
The seats and door panels are inspired by the paper-cut window grilles in traditional Chinese architecture and is embellished in the yellow colour of winter jasmine. As such, the design of the JAECOO 7 and 9 are unlike anything available on the market.
To further elaborate on its brand plans, both OMODA and JAECOO will host a brand day on 20 April in Wuhu in the Anhui Province at their headquarters. It will use this opportunity to reveal new technologies and future development strategies.
This special day will be attended by over 400 dealers and media representatives from across the globe, where both OMODA and JAECOO will soon be made available.
